Documented Life 2015 – Week 3

This week’s DLP art challenge was “The Color Wheel”. I decided to challenge myself to keep it simple and embrace the negative space. Being one who tends to fill up every bit of the page with color, this was a bit of a stretch for me.

I started by using a bit of gel medium to add a strip of music sheet to my page. On top of that I stenciled on a design using modeling paste and a Prima Stencil.

Once that was completely set, I sprayed on some Dylusions in Postbox Red, London Blue and Lemon Zest and let it drip down the page. I heat set that and did the same thing with a bit of Acrylic Ink, for an extra punch of color.

2015-01-20 20.19.12I gave my page a few splatters of Dylusions, in Black Marble and stamped a bee, from the Scribbly Insects as well as my sentiment, onto a scrap of music sheet, cut both out and adhered them onto my page.

Overall, I’m pleased with the results. I’m glad that I challenged myself to embrace the negative space and welcome all that white into my journal.

Thanks for looking, wishing you a wonderful week!

Delishous! Thank you for sharing your process, also. I am very new to the art journaling and mixed media, and this is most helpful to my learning process!
