It’s week 2 of Life Book 2015 and we have a bonus project this week, which is nice. It gives people some who might still be working on week 1, a little breathing room. This week we’re Playing Tag with Roben-Marie Smith, who is part of Art to the 5th, the wonderful group of ladies that run the Documented Life Project. We were to create a tag using a word that we’ll be carrying with us through out the year. As you know from my previous posts, my word for the year is Release, so that’s what I used for my tag. I’ll show you how you can create your own to hang in your craft space or pin to your inspiration board, any place that you might need a gentle little reminder of your intention for the year.
I started by spraying a tag with Dylusions ink. I used Cherry Pie and Pure Sunshine, then dried it with a heat tool. Don’t worry if it begins to curl up on you, as it dries it will flatten itself out.
Using one of my own hand carved stamps and StazOn ink, I stamped around one edge.
Using a white Molotow marker and a white Uni-Ball Signo I added a few doodles.
Next, I gave my tag a few splatters of Golden Fluid Acrylic in White Titanium and set it aside to dry.
Using StazOn again, I stamped a bold flower stamp and an arrow stamp onto old book paper. The stamps are from Paperbag Studios. The two that I used are from Roben-Marie’s Media Essentials #1 set and Rae’s Missigman’s Natural Elements set.
After cutting them out, I glued them to my tag and used a Stabilo Marks All and a water brush to go around the edges and make them pop.
Next, I took the tag to my sewing machine a gave it a little wonky stitching around the edges.
I added a few more doodles, used a “Scratches” stamp from Darkroom Door to add a bit more texture, looped a bit of Sari silk ribbon through the hole and finished it off by adding my word for the year.
Thank you for looking, I hope you found the post of value. Wishing you a wonderful and art filled week!
