Belen Sotelo, a San Diego native, is a mixed media artist and self-professed Colorful Mess Maker. She has developed as an artist through creative experimentation, attending classes and exploring online presentations. Her body of work is best known for its complex layers of bold color and visual texture. Through tutorials and process videos, Belen encourages others to connect with their own creative voice. She has taught at Way Art Yonder Studio in San Diego and worked with local and national brands including StencilGirl Stencils, Faber Castell, RubberMoon, and My Prima Planner. Her work has been featured in heART Magazine.
Belen works full time as a Human Resources Manager, a career she loves, to help fund her obsession with stencils, planners, and art supplies. She loves monoprinting, art journaling, memory keeping, planning, and experimenting with new supplies and techniques.
When she isn’t in her studio, she enjoys reading, traveling, video games, watching movies with her boyfriend, and cuddling their two cats.
