This was the first week of The Documented Life Project 2015 and there are a few changes. There will now be a monthly theme, a journal prompt and a weekly challenge. This month’s theme is “The Blank Page and How to Face It!” Our art challenge is Book Paper and our journal prompt is “Be Your Own Goal Keeper”.
Each of the wonderful ladies at Art to the 5th were generous enough to share their take on the challenge as well are their individual process, which are available HERE. Here’s my take on the first DLP2015 challenge. I chose not to do a double page spread, but that may change week to week, depending on what else I’ve got going on. I laid a base of various pieces of torn book paper that I adhered to my page with fluid matte medium, placed the Diamonds stencil by Dylusions over top of the wet paint and wiped it off some of it using a baby wipe in a few areas. I then added a few more pieces of torn book paper on top of that and gave them a light wash of white paint.
I used the flower stamp from Paperbag Studios’ Mixed Media Essentials set, stamping it onto book paper and cutting around the edges. Using a Stabilo Marks All pencil, I roughly sketched out stems and leaves and went over them with a water brush. I painted in the leave and added a few details, then adhered the flowers onto my page.
I used StazOn ink and the Flutter stencil by Kaisercraft to stamp on some butterflies to give the page some movement and added various marks and doodles, as well as a border, using my Stabilo pencil again.
I finished off my page by printing my goals, cutting them out, edged them in black and running them through the Xyron. Thanks for looking!
